Creative Trust and Picasso PRO have just released two handbooks for producers and presenters of Audio Described and American Sign Language interpreted performances. These practical toolkits provide step by step guidance for anyone planning to open their programming to Deaf/hard of hearing or Blind/low vision attenders.
The handbooks are the result of an innovative three-year collaboration between Creative Trust and Picasso PRO . The Art Access Program – a one-of-kind initiative in Ontario which was generously supported by Sun Life Financial and Ontario Trillium Foundation – encouraged and assisted performing arts companies to integrate access initiatives into their culture and programming, reaching out to Toronto’s disability community and welcoming them into their audiences.
Here are the handbooks for download (also available on Picasso PRO’s website):
The Performing Arts Access Program Handbook – Part I (Audio Description)
The Performing Arts Access Program Handbook – Part II (American Sign Language Interpretation)
